GJM issues diktat against public display of affection

PTI, 15:43 HRS IST

Siliguri (WB), Sept 3 (PTI) Couples holding hands while walking in the picturesque Darjeeling hills may soon be a thing of the past with the Gorkha Janamukti Morcha issuing a diktat against expression of love in public.

“Whatever we are doing is for the ultimate good of the society. We will keep strict vigil to ensure that the directive is strictly followed,” chief of Gorkha Land Personnel (GLP), the GJM youth wing, Ramesh Ale told reporters here yesterday.

Yesterday a married couple walking at the famous Mall Chowrasta here were intercepted by GLP activists for being “indecent” in public place and was made to apologise.

However, there is apprehension among the locals about the move as it might affect the flow of tourists and earn a ‘bad name’ to the hill station.

This is absolutely nonsense. These caders of GLP should be checked. The world wants freedom if its obscene then yes we need to keep up with our culture. If its Goondaism then this should be nibbed in the bud, befor it gets out of hand.

A TRUE TALIBANISM STYLE IS BEING FOLLOWED BY THE GLP. THESE FOUR SO CALLED GLP’S MUST BE PUNISHED. ITS REALLY VERY STRANGE THAT HUSBAND AND WIFE CANNOT HOLD THEIR HANDS WHILE GOING FOR A WALK…WHERE ON EARTH ARE U PEOPLE?….SCRAP THE IDEA OF HAVING GLP IN PLACE OF POLICE….. JUST WAIT AND WATCH INTRODUCTION OF GLP UNIT IS GOING TO BE A BIG PAIN FOR THE GJMM.

    STRANGE PEOPLE IN BEAUTIFUL PLACE……
